To be honest, I didnât know this would come out so good. I usually just make honey garlic salmon, but I had an idea to use orange, honey, and a bit of bourbon for this salmon recipe. I guess you can say that I had a taste for an old fashion salmon lol. Bourbon flavor with the sweetness of honey made took this recipe over the top. Needless to say, this is my first time cooking with bourbon and it wonât be the last. Trust me when I tell that these honey bourbon salmon fillets are so good that you may eat the whole pan! Honey Bourbon Salmon Filet Ingredients:
- 5 Salmon fillets
- 1 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- Spoon full of light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 4-6 freshly minced garlic
- 1/4 cup bourbon (I used Makerâs Mark)
- 1/2 tablespoon of butter
- Olive Oil
- 1 tbl of seafood magic
- 1 tbl garlic powder
- 1 tbl onion powder
- A pinch of pepper
- Green onion to garnish
- Orange slices to garnish
Brief Cooking instructions for Honey Bourbon Salmon Fillets:
- I brined my salmon in 3 1/2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of sea salt in a large bowl for 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
- After 20 minutes, drain the water from bowl and pat the salmon dry. Leave out for about 15 minutes to bring to room temperature (cooking process is better this way)
- In a medium bowl, add soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, minced garlic, bourbon, and orange juice. Whisk to combine.
- Pat salmon to dry using a paper towel. and drizzle with a bit of olive oil for the next simple steps.
- Season the salmon with pepper, seafood seasoning, garlic and onion powder on each side.
- Turn on oven at 375 degrees.
- In a grilling pan or regular skillet, drizzle a little olive oil and then melt butter on medium heat.
- Once butter is melted, place salmon in the skillet cook each side of salmon for 4-5 minutes on high heat. You may need to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on each side depending on the thickness of the salmon.
- After cooking the second side reduce to a lower heat and pour in the honey bourbon mixture.
- Baste the salmon for a minute or so.
- Place in the oven for about 5 minutes.
