As much as I love a good cedar plank salmon recipe, I had to get creative because I’m not particularly interested in getting up and prepping the gas grill. So I had to find an alternative way to cooking the cedar plank salmon that would also include the smoky flavor. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good hot or charcoal grill, but I’m not particularly fond of standing over a hot grill lol. However, I want to be a bit more instructive as I wanted this simple recipe to be both flavorful and visual appealing. I say that because most people do not care for the amount of albumin (white protein that seeps from salmon while cooking). This Simple Cedar Plank Salmon in Oven Recipe will definitely appeal to both. However, whichever your preference is, these simple ingredients will achieve the best results.
Why you’ll love this recipe:
- Cook time is simple
- Less complicated than understanding an outdoor grill
- Great way for meal prep or for meal plan
- Same fresh wood flavor with baking on a sheet pan
Characteristic Flavors of Cedar:

- Sweet: Some cedar may have sweet notes, similar to vanilla or caramel when toasted
