Sometimes I crave cold seafood so I figured why not make spicy crab salad recipe filled with shrimp and lobster as well? It’s full of protein and I don’t have to whip to out a pan to make it. Sounds like a win-win to me. This recipe is extremely versatile. You can eat this seafood salad with greens, wrap, or sandwich. If you’re anything like me and just want something good and refreshing, then try this recipe with saltine or club crackers. I’m sure you will love it!

Spicy Crab Salad Main Ingredient:
- Crab
- Lobster
- Shrimp
All three proteins are all excellent sources of high-quality protein and great for repairing and building tissues in the body. Additionally, these seafoods are low in calories and rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Other simple ingredients for this recipe:
- Mayo
- Herbs – Chives, Dill, Basil
- Green onions
- Celery
- Jalapeno
- Black Peppercorn
- Lemon zest and juice
- Old Bay seasoning
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Kosher salt
Brief Instructions:
- Prep all herbs and set aside. This consist of dicing chives, dill, green onions, and basil.
- Thinly slice jalapeño and dice celery.
- If you haven’t done so already, steam your lobster and shrimp separately in a steamer. This process should take only a few minutes for shrimp and maybe 6-8 minutes for lobster.
- Pat shrimp and lobster with a paper towel to ensure it is dry.
- Place shrimp, crab, and lobster in a medium to large bowl and season lightly with Old Bay.
- In a separate medium sized bowl, add mayo, herbs, celery, lemon juice, etc. Add salt in increments since seafood is typically salty on its own. Mix the wet ingredients and adjust seasoning as necessary.
- Add mayo mixture to the protein – lobster, crab, and shrimp.
- Mix all ingredients until evenly distributed. Set aside and covered with plastic wrap to refrigerate for 30 minutes so all the flavors can meld together.
- You’re all DONE. Add chives as a garnish for a little razzle dazzle.

How to store leftovers:
Place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
Can I use imitation crab meat or fake crab meat?
You can use imitation crab meat, however I did not test this recipe with imitation crab so it may taste slightly different. Major grocery stores offer lump or jumbo crab meat for affordable prices. Real crab meat usually located near the seafood counter in small containers.
Spicy Crab Salad Recipe
Cold seafood salad is perfect to have on a hot summer day!
Ingredients
- 8oz or 1 cup each: lump crab, steamed shrimp, and steamed lobster
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1 zest of lemon and juice
- 1 tsp of Old Bay seasoning to season seafood; pinch for the liquid mixture
- 1/2 teaspoon of black peppercorn
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 jalapeno, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoon fresh dill
- 2-3 chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon chives
- 1/4 cup celery, diced
- 2 green onions, diced
Instructions
- If using raw shrimp or lobster, steam separately before attempting this recipe. Cooked or steamed protein will yield the best results.
Combine steamed protein in a large bowl and pat to dry with a paper towel to reduce excess moisture. Next lightly season with Old Bay. - Prep all herbs; dice chives, dill, green onions, and basil and cover with plastic wrap to set aside.
- Prep jalapeños and celery next. Thinly slice jalapeños. To reduce heat or spice, use less seeds. Dice your celery and place in a small bowl.
- In a small bowl, Combine cup mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and peppercorns. Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.
- Add all herbs, jalapeños, and green onions. Mix with mayo mixture until all ingredients are equally combined.
- Taste the mixture to make sure the seasoning is to your liking. You may need to add salt, however, do so very SPARINGLY.
- Once the taste of the wet mixture is to your liking, mix in the crab, shrimp, and lobster. Garnish with chives and red pepper flakes.
Notes
Ensure the lobster and shrimp are steamed for this recipe! No raw meat were used in this recipe.
This recipe does have a bit of spice kick to it. To reduce the spicy taste, omit the jalapeno seeds.
